264p, 10 breed plates and other illustrations. A well preserved copy in chipped dust wrapper. Ambler was a Yorkshire man and for many years the 'poultry expert' of the New Zealand Farmer. He was the 'Fanciers' editor' of the New Zealand Poultry Journal, started in 1906. And was president of the Auckland Poultry Club for several years from 1925. As well as an import business in Customs Street, he ran the Acme Poultry Farm at Ellerslie, Auckland, which bred white Leghorns, black Rosecomb bantams, Black (and white) Orpingtons, and Fawn and white Indian Runner, and Khaki Campbell ducks. The book is well illustrated with photos and drawings. And contains many adverts.
