Full calf binding worn and hinges splitting, strengthened with new end papers. Inclosures. Pemberton was an associate of Newton (1642-1727) and supervised the printing of the third edition of Principia. He wrote this simplified and illustrated version for the wider use of the general public, and is said to have read part of the work to Newton when he was dying. A poem of Sir Isaac Newton by R. Glover occupies 15p following the preface.
