Probably by Reginald Heber. Volume 16 of a series started in 1752. If so it should have xxiv,187,[1]p. But lacks the title page, all before page xv of the introduction and final pages after 170. Old worn full calf, chipped at head and foot of spine, but binding sound. The pages begin with xv-xxiv which give a list of subscribers names, a table showing weights of horses, 'Copy of an article for a cock-match', and, 'Part of an act relating to horse racing'. Page 1 has an ornamental headpiece with the heading 'An historical list of horse matches. etc.' The March 1766 - October 1766 matches are detailed on pages 1-106. From page 107 there are various lists e.g. ' A distinct list of the winning horses, etc., in England, in the year 1766.' The spine label reads 'Horse racing 1766' and no. 16.
